Spirits of the Philippines

My mom grew up in the Philippines, but has been here in the US since she was 17, and after she found out I was curious about the paranormal, she told me two stories, both eerie, and seemingly paranormal. The first was one that took place in the P.I. she lived with her mom, two sisters, a brother, and two uncles. One of the uncles, she said, had been missing for about a week, and her and my grandmother was worried sick. Finally, one afternoon, my mom and her mom were in the kitchen and in came the missing uncle. Startled, they look at him and my grandma begins to make him a plate of food, I'm guessing to ease the interrogation about to take place. Before they really had a chance to do anything, he walked out of the kitchen and they heard the door shut. My mom said in a matter of seconds they got a knock on he door. She went to open it and to their surprise it was the police, asking them to identify the body, (there they just brought the body to the residence for the I.D.) and sure enough, it was him. The cops said they found him the day before, lying in a ditch, probably hit by a car. Sent chills up my spine hearing that one. My mom thinks they brought his spirit with the body, and he was glad to be home.

The second story, not so much ghostly, but just weird. We lived at White Sands Missile range for about 6 years in New Mexico, and for extra money my mom would clean the empty houses after military moved out, and she would make anywhere from 200 to 400 dollars by a contractor. It took 2 or 3 nights. Before she stripped and waxed the floors, she would run a vacuum over the bare floor, I guess it’s easier than sweeping. She said she had a lot on her mind that night, with bills to pay and things like that. She started vacuuming in the master bedroom, and made her way to the kitchen. About half way through she realize how far she had come without unplugging, and re-plugging the power cord. Just as she realized that she looked behind her and saw the end of the power cord laying on the floor, not plugged into anything, but the vacuum...still on. Seconds later, the vacuum cut off, and she dropped it and ran out, not returning till the next morning. I wonder if that was an extension of the power we hold in our minds, or just some freak energy thing.
