I have just now come to realize that my mom’s house in Ohio is definitely haunted. All the little things that have happened have been over looked and shrugged off but when you add up swinging towels in windowless rooms, large distinct blurs in nighttime pictures of our yard with no lights in sight, a slamming door once upstairs when all the doors were already closed and locked, and when in the basement sounds of people walking around upstairs and running up and down the stairs (which was explained to me as the house settling, yeah right).
Anyway this story actually happened to my grandpa, who lives with my mother, about 6 or 7 years ago. My grandfather is a logical person who never tells a lie or makes things up and I believe him 100%. It started out simple, when he would be lying in his bed he would feel light movement on the bed which he thought was our cat walking on the bed but when he would feel around to pet him he wasn’t there. So this goes on for a little bit when one night my grandpa wakes up in the middle of the night and sees a man dressed in 50’s style clothing, derby top hat, and long coat, standing in his room near the door. Now my grandfather is not one you want to mess with, he jumps out of bed and takes a good swing at him with his fist and almost fell on the floor because the man was no longer there.
Now my grandfather is a strong person both physically and mentally and this did not scare him away. So he continues to sleep in his room and night after night the man continues to bother him by still lightly pushing on the bed. Each night the bed shaking would progress until it eventually would be violently shaking the entire bed. He would just tell the ghost to leave him alone and to stop and he usually would for the night.
This started to become an inconvenience so my grandpa was calling psychic hotlines and wrote numbers above the doorway and tried garlic and all different little methods that anyone could think of. He bought new sheets from Wal-Mart recently and returned them and still nothing, he just couldn’t figure it out.
One night my sister, not an easily frightened person, wanted to experience this for herself so my grandfather slept in the living room on the couch and my sister took his place in the bed. She sat there for a while in anticipation and finally fell asleep, the next day she said that nothing happened at all and was disappointed. When we talked to our grandfather later on, he said that the man was shaking the couch and bothering him in there. He thought of everything and just couldn’t figure it out.
So one day while he was at his girlfriend’s house he spotted a picture in a frame on a table. The picture was of a man, in 50’s style clothing, a derby top hat, and a long coat. When he asked her about the picture she went on to tell him that the man was her husband who had died and he immediately broke up with her. I haven’t asked him about it for a long time but I do know that the man continued to bother him a little bit even after but my grandfather just tells him to shut up and go away, and he does and he just ignores him but I’m not sure if he’s still around.
