From a visitor in Canada

Hi, my name is Holly, this story is true and it seemed to suck in almost my entire family. It started with my mother and an apartment she was renting from a woman named Piola. The apartment was actually the top 2 levels of a 3-story house; the first floor was taken over by Piolas' Hair Studio. It is located on Sherbrook St. In Winnepeg, MB.
For the first 6 weeks she lived there, with my younger brother, it was nothing, just an uncomfortable feeling of expectancy almost. The 6th week, my mother got help setting up her bed frame on the 3rd. floor, there are two bedrooms up there and she took the front facing one. The very first night things happened. She was settling down for the night and she saw a silhouette of a man looking at her in her doorway. He stared at her for a minute and then walked in. He disappeared. That was bad enough, but then someone jumping into bed with her repeatedly waked her up.
The next night she was determined to stop this. She stayed awake and waited. Sure enough, she felt something or someone jump on her bed, she stayed still and the thing settled against her back. She reached around to grab them, and was surprised when she came into contact with a small leg. She turned around and came face to face with a little girl with long dark hair and brown eyes, she was about 4. They just looked at each other and something seemed to happen. My mom nodded and the little girl settled down beside her. The rest of the night was uneventful as they slept side by side all night. My mom got her first dreamless and deep sleep in weeks. The little girl seemed to think my mother could protect her, don't ask me how. The next night was an absolute nightmare until my mom got mad. The man coming into her room and climbing not just in to her bed, but on her awakened her repeatedly. She was frightened and was too scared to move. She said it was like a big fat cat climbing up her body and settling on her chest. The whole time she felt the anger and malice coming from this man, there was nothing good in him, he seemed to get great pleasure from the control he had over my mom. In a semi-conscious state, my mom saw her bedroom walls seep blood, she has never been into horror movies and at this point, she got mad. She sat straight up in bed and yelled "Oh come on!!" The man was startled and he left her alone.
He turned his attention to my younger brother instead. Bill would be sitting in his chair in the living room and the man was standing on the stairs a little way down. He would stare at Bill thru the rails. Bill was scared, but he was convinced that if he ignored it then it would stop. It didn't. He also experienced seeing the man chase the little girl down the hallway. He was walking in to the kitchen and from nowhere the man appeared and the little girl a second later. The man chased her up the stairs to my mom's bedroom; she slammed the door and tried to lock it. The man snarled and kicked it open. They both disappeared as the little girl raised her arms up in self-defense.
He was chased out one day when he was sitting alone in the house. From beside him a little girl spoke, but there was no one there. She said, "Get out he's coming back!" Bill then heard running up the stairs and snarling. He left for a couple hours.
My daughter's part in this is rather peculiar. She was in Kindergarten at the time. She would go around the house placing rocks and shells from BC in the windows and doors. She even went into a crawl space about 2/3 of the way up the 3rd. floor stairs. She put rocks and shells in there and said "you'll be safe in here." When asked what she was doing, she told my mother that she was protecting her from the angry man. My mom was startled, but curious, so she asked "what man?" My daughter told her, "the man that scares you and the girl, she likes you gramma." My daughter just went about what she was doing, and my mom let her. She swears things calmed down for a while after that. The energy changed she said, and it wasn't so bad to be there. Of course this didn't last for too long. The two of them managed to live there for 2 years until they had had enough. I would have been out of there the first night! But then, I am not nearly as brave as my mother. I never saw the man or the girl, but I always felt uncomfortable there. I especially didn't like going into my mother's room. I always felt like the house was full of bad energy.
Thanks for taking the time to read my story. It is not the only one I have, all of us have had experience with the paranormal. We have come to accept that we are all just a little weird and spooky.
