Glen Tavern Inn - Santa Paula, California

Glen Tavern Inn, 134 North Mill Street, Santa Paula, California. To look at this well groomed, Tudor style hotel, no one could tell of the events that take place in room 307. A National Historic Landmark, has been visited by such famous people as Clark Gable, Carole Lombard, Harry Houdini and even Rin-Tin-Tin, and sports a ghost who looks like Buffalo Bill Cody.

Seances have been held in the room countless times. In 1986, the medium
Debra Christenson, communicated with a spirit who said her name is "Jennifer". She informed the medium she had died in room 306, next door,
in the 1930's.

Employees of the inn have all experienced supernatural events, unexplained foot steps, a flying ice scoop, having their name called out when no one is there as well as being pushed from behind by unseen hands. A group of college students from Ventura College, taking a ghost hunting course, visited the inn. Catherine Dickerson took 36 photos, with infrared film of the room. When she got the film back, all the photos were blank and green in color, except one. That one showed the fog like image of a being who looked like Bill Cody.

Another psychic, Grace Coveney visited the inn. She reported that there are actually three ghosts haunting the inn. A child on the first floor, who could not or did not go off that floor, a woman in room 218 and "Bill Cody". She felt Bill Cody was really an actor dressed to look like Buffalo Bill for a movie part and he had been killed in the inn during a poker game.  The history of the inn, built in 1911, does show that filming was done frequently on that site, so the explanation is feasible.

The final psychic research done at the in was done in 1989. Its purpose was to take a ghost census. The census indicated, from the handful of psychics who joined this research group, that there are actually six, not three, ghosts walking the halls and rooms of the Glen Tavern Inn.

If that is not enough to put the thrill of adventure into your spirit, the Inn also hosts "Murder Mystery Weekends" from time to time. Making it a very interesting place to visit.

Take freeway 126 out of Los Angeles. Exit 10th Street north to the Historic Railroad Station and the Inn is nearby. If you stay in Room 307, enjoy
the jacuzzi in the room, but don't be surprised if you are joined by an uninvited guest who can not and will not be evicted.
