Rosario Resort!

An employee, quite exhausted from working a double shift, was given permission to rest in one of the rooms at Rosario Resort. She entered the room assigned her and quickly settled on the bed for a good night's sleep. No sooner had she closed her eyes and began to doze, she felt as though something was in the room with her. She quickly turned on the light, nothing was there, though she was certain she had seen a shadowy figure just before turning on the light. She turned off the light, lay back down to sleep, when something touched her arm. In haste she turned the light on again -- again nothing was there. She reasoned she felt this way only because of her extreme tired condition. She left the light on this time, but rest did not come easily. As she started to enter the twilight stage of sleep she jerked herself awake again when she distinctly felt fingers run up and down her hand. The girl didn't stay to find out what was touching her. She bolted from the room, leaving the door ajar, and ran to the front desk to inform the desk clerk something was in her room. She then drove to a near-by home of a friend for her much needed rest. This was not an uncommon event in this room at Rosario Resort. Prior to it becoming Rosario Resort it had been the mansion of Alice Rheem and her husband on Orcas Island, East Sound, Washington. Alice was a good-time girl. She drank heavily and was quite unruly in her adventures with the opposite sex, despite her marriage. Her husband, in hopes to control her more built the house on Orcas Island, hoping the calm, tranquil setting would encourage her to settle down. It did not! When her husband was away she would bring her evening lover back to the mansion for a night of passionate lovemaking. The room the young employee had been given had originally been Alice's room. On numerous occasions guests of the Rosario Resort had complained of noise from the room. Continuous creaking of the bed springs, soft moaning then loud moaning. All continuing through the night. No doubt Alice Rheem was entertaining another spirit of questionable moral character.

You can visit Rosario Resort, take Route 5 north from Seattle for about 85 miles, to exit 230. Follow this road to the Ferries at Anacortes.

The ferry ride to Orcas Island takes about one hour and fifteen minutes. When you leave the ferry, follow the signs and they will lead you to Rosario Resort and Alice Rheem. It is said she liked drink, so much so it was her downfall. Perhaps if you are a single man visiting, you should go prepared to serve a proper wine for the occasion.
