Rather
than review all the different shows on television right now that
deal with and/or address paranormal activities we will only review
two shows that attempt to be scientific in investigating the
paranormal.
First
program is Most Haunted. Try as they may they are NOT
scientific in their approach to any "haunting"
situation. Every noise they attribute to paranormal
activity. Every time they ask for a response they ALWAYS
get a response. But they do not use any scientific items, such
as an EMF, infrared cameras, thermometers. tape or digital recorders
for EVP's etc. True enough Dr. Ciaran O'Keeffe, Parapsychologist/Investigator,
uses many of these tools but we are rarely privy to any findings
that Dr. O'Keeffe may have.
As stated previously on this site - this "investigative"
team is either the luckiest investigators in the world or much of
what we see is staged. In the 30 plus years we've been
investigating never have we had a response at every single location
we have investigated simply because we asked them to respond.
So we truly aren't buying it from the Most Haunted team!
The
second program is Ghost Hunters and Ghost Hunters
International. Since both programs are controlled and created
by the same people we feel we can lump them together to review
them. Both programs use a lot of equipment but absolutely no
psychics at all. The number of pieces of equipment is
impressive but in their attempt to be "scientific" they
eliminate many things without investigation and/or
justification. This, in our opinion, is just as bad as
assuming everything is paranormal. To this team nothing is
paranormal - and no place is truly "haunted." Of
course their definition of haunted and paranormal can't be found any
place but in their minds. They have defined these terms so
narrowly that they have lost all meaning to this "team of
investigators." As a result we find the show to fall
short of being truly scientific and/or investigators. These
people, like Most Haunted, play at being investigators but because
of their narrow mindedness and their attempts to be oh so scientific
they have lost their ability to be objective.
If
you are going to watch any of these programs we highly suggest you
take them for what they are entertainment - but clearly they are not
scientific nor do they add anything to those who are involved in the
work of investigating places said to be haunted, in fact we believe
they do more harm than good.
