From a visitor in N/A 2/16/03:
"Why do you think the paranormal exists?  I mean I know everything in life has a purpose so what is the paranormal's purpose?"

RESPONSE:

Why do I think the paranormal exists? That could be a tough question - but here's what I think -- I think it exists to keep us humble. It does not allow to believe that we know everything about our life here on this planet, even though we sometimes think we do. I also think it exists to remind us that there is far more in our universe than we can ever begin to comprehend.

Some things in the paranormal field were created by man - they are not truly paranormal but more mythology or folklore. Because man has always had the need to believe there is a purpose for life. When mankind couldn't understand the over-all plan of life and, as a result, could not understand the purpose, he generated things that would give him a purpose.

Much of what is taken for fact, such as Moses parting the Red Sea, and things such as this, are viewed by me as questionable. Not that it didn't happen - I'm just saying it probably didn't happen the way it was recorded. For example, in each culture, Greek, Italian, Hebrew, Muslim, etc. there are stories of a major flood taking place in the world. The basic story line is similar but the details are very different. So did it happen? I don't know - or was it, as some scholars have suggested just a story told to entertain others. Yet events such as this seem to get lumped into the paranormal category - why, because we don't really understand how it could have happened, if it did happen, and if so, where is the evidence that it happened. Unfortunately we tend to place anything we do not understand and can not prove scientifically into the category of the paranormal. It rarely explains itself. Yet when one sees a ghost or hears of someone else seeing a ghost, they tend to find some comfort in that because it gives them hope that there is life after death. If one sees a UFO or even an alien, it gives them hope also, even though it may generate fear, that perhaps there is someone more advanced than we who knows how to save our planet from our destructive ways.

Can you imagine life with nothing but belief in things that can be proven scientifically? There would be no discussions regarding UFOs, ghosts, or even God. Because none of these have or can be proven to the extent required by the scientific world.

In short trust your instincts - if your initial thought of a specific location is that it doesn't feel right then chances are it isn't right for you.
