ASK

I've heard that ghosts appear on film even if you can't see them with the naked eye, like if you take a picture then sometimes there is a white blur in it. I've also heard that their voices can be recorded even if you can't hear them normally. I think my house is haunted, and I own a camcorder -- if there are any ghosts that happened to pass by the lens, would they appear when I play back the tape?

RESPONSE:
Ghosts - film and recording voices. These are
two common uses for the ghost hunter. It has been
our experience here at Eeeek that ghosts do not show up
readily on video film as much or as easily as they do on a
standard 35mm camera film and/or digital camera. Why
is not totally clear - however we have had camcorders
running and taken photos with 35mm and digital cameras at
the same time and things will show up on the still film
but not on the camcorder film. This is not to say it
never does show up on the camcorder - because it does and
has but it does not seem to be as reliable as the standard
camera, digital, and Polaroid SX70.
Recording the voices of a ghost is another area
completely. Generally speaking sounds will show up
on camcorders when a ghost is present but the clarity of
those sounds is just not there. In order to record
these voices one should consider using a digital
recorder. An analog recorder generally allows too
much white noise and makes it difficult to hear and
understand what is being said, though many investigators
will use an analog system as well as a digital
system. These recordings are called EVPs or
electronic voice phenomena. Go to a site called
Ghost Pixs, they have a large number of EVPs on their site
as a result of their numerous investigations. The

Hope this answers your questions! Thanks for
writing Eeeek!
